Production Engineer Elisa Ojala joined Logent in September 2022 as a Development Engineer. Her journey to the company began through her thesis work in production economics.
– While considering my thesis topic, I came across Logent’s advertisement for conducting work studies in an internal logistics warehouse. Analyzing and documenting logistics processes and improving operations based on research-driven insights is something I am passionate about. This opportunity allowed me to strengthen my expertise while completing my studies, Elisa explains.
The project turned out to be highly engaging. For Elisa, the most rewarding part is seeing planned improvements successfully implemented and witnessing tangible results.
– The positive atmosphere in the team and Logent’s focus on development immediately sparked my interest in joining the company, she continues.
What Does a Development Engineer Do at Logent?
The responsibilities of the development team at Logent are broad, covering both internal projects and customer-focused initiatives in logistics and warehouse optimization. As a Development Engineer, Elisa oversees work study projects and participates in solution development, as well as project management within internal development projects.
– I appreciate being able to focus on a single customer project initially and take it to completion. This allows me to familiarize myself with Logent’s processes and methods in a practical way, Elisa says. Over time, routines for project management and process improvement become established.
– Work studies are currently my main focus. I aim to incorporate additional tools and theoretical perspectives to ensure results are accurate and valuable. We continually evaluate methods and approaches to optimize logistics flows and internal processes. It’s exciting to contribute my own ideas and help improve both Logent’s and our clients’ operations, Elisa adds.
Early Weeks in Practice
– I quickly became involved in client projects and am already working independently on a work study project. I’ve analyzed data related to material flows, warehouse volumes, events, and products, Elisa explains.
– I have conducted employee interviews, motion analysis, and observational studies. It is inspiring to see employees actively participate and share their insights. Work studies rely on observations raised by those performing the work. Active data collection provides a deeper understanding of cause-and-effect relationships in logistics processes. Transparency and collaboration are essential for success, Elisa concludes.
Working at Logent
Elisa highlights Logent’s knowledgeable, open, and positive work environment. She values the ability to start working independently quickly and the fast pace of projects.
– I was warmly welcomed and integrated well into the team. Support from both supervisors and colleagues when starting a new role is invaluable. I have received sufficient guidance to learn the company’s workflows, understand internal logistics processes, and build confidence in my work.
– I look forward to future projects and getting to know more colleagues at Logent. I have already visited Logent’s logistics center in Hakkila and the wood packaging unit in Riihimäki, and I hope to explore the remaining units soon, concludes Development Engineer Elisa Ojala.
